Want me to write your autobiography? Here are 10 questions you need to answer first

Hiring a ghostwriter for your autobiography is an exciting project that both you and your chosen writer should have fun with.

However, before you embark on finding someone to write for you, there are several things you need to consider.

Don’t let your enthusiasm for writing a book blind you to the practicalities of what it takes to get your story out there.

For a successful outcome, your project needs a strategic approach.

Having a clear direction and goal from the off will also help your writer and make for a mutually enjoyable experience.

Ask yourself these questions and consider them carefully.

    • Why do you want to write your autobiography?
    • Do you have an interesting story to share?
    • Who do you want to read it? Family, friends, or the public?
    • Why is it important for you to write it now?
    • What do you hope to achieve by publishing your life story? Fame, financial wealth, personal satisfaction?
    • Is this book for educational purposes, as an inspirational work or simply for entertainment?
    • Do you have the time/energy to give to a project that may take six months, a year or more to complete?
    • Do you have the financial resources in place to fund the project from beginning to end?
    • Do you have an excellent collection of supporting images to go with the copy?
    • If you are intending to mention family, friends, or colleagues, have you considered you will need their written consent to use their name, any quotes from them, or to include their story in yours?

If you can answer these questions and they all fit together, then you are ready to write that incredible story.

If they don’t, then you might realise now is not the perfect time to start this, but someday you will be able.

Once you are happy you have these points sorted, then the next step is finding a writer to work with.

So, if you are ready to get started with your project, then get in touch and let’s chat!  Either send me an email or give me a call.

I’d like nothing better than to bring your story to life and present it to the world.

Don’t keep your readers waiting too long…
